Clinical Research Fellow Respiratory Research Unit Peninsula Medical School (Primary Care) ITTC Building, Tamar Science Park Plymouth PL6 8BX Rupert.jones@pms.ac.uk 01752 764259 Dr Rupert Jones is the lead of the Respiratory Research Unit and holds a Department of Health award to research the prevalence and impact of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in chronic medical conditions. He is a 'GP with Special Interest' in Plymouth tPCT and chairs the COPD Pathways Group. He is also a research committee member of the GPIAG (General Practice Airways Group) and IPCRG (International Primary Care Respiratory Group). Rupert's research interests include psychological factors in COPD, pulmonary rehabilitation, compliance and self-management. He has been instrumental in the research and development of the Lung Information Needs Questionnaire (LINQ) which arose from his awareness that patients with COPD lack information abut their disease and how to help themselves. Further studies using the LINQ are currently in development both nationally and internationally. Rupert is also currently involved in the development of an electronic patient-centred software package for assessing patients' health status and information needs, as part of the Plymouth tPCT COPD Audit.
